OnJune 20, 2025, the "2025 SMIA Council Meeting and the InauguralMeeting of the Greater Bay Area Center" was successfully held inGuangzhou. Some rotating chairman units of SMIA, SMIA Specialized Committee on AIDiagnosis and Treatment Innovation for Rare Diseases, Yangtze River DeltaHospital Alliance,SMIA Yangtze River Delta Center, SMIA Greater Bay Area Center,the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University, the Second People'sHospital of Guangdong Province, Intermedia Pharmaceuticals, Gilead Sciences,the Secretariat of SMIA, and special guests gathered together, and some of theguests participated in the meeting online.
The meeting was chaired by Mr. CaoWeirong, Chairman-in-Office of SMIA. First of all, Mr. Zhang Jian,Chairman-in-Office of SMIA, made a report "Summarizing and Prospecting of Work", reviewing the recent innovations andclarifying the future development focus.
Subsequently, the General Assembly heldthe establishment ceremony of the "SMIA Greater Bay AreaCenter", Professor Zhang Jian was appointed as the first chairman of theBoard of Directors, Professor Chen Xiao of the First Affiliated Hospital of SunYat-sen University and Director Mei Qinghua of the Second People's Hospital ofGuangdong Province were appointed as the directors of the Center, which markeda key step for SMIA in the regional collaborative development, and theCenter will become an important platform to promote regional health ecologicaldigital intelligence collaborative innovation. The establishment marks a keystep in regional synergistic development, and the Greater Bay Area Center willbecome an important platform for promoting regional health ecological digitalintelligence collaborative innovation.
In the keynote speech session, Prof.Chen Xiao of the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University delivered"Innovative Thinking in Hospitals"; Vice General Manager Chen Xian ofIntec Pharmaceuticals shared "The Practice and Effectiveness of SMIA Mode in Zhejiang"; and Rotating Committee Member of SMIA SpecializedCommittee on AI Diagnosis and Treatment Innovation of Rare Diseases Paul Li and Standing Committee Member of Harold chan jointly spoke on "Thinkingabout Digital Intelligence and Innovation in China's Health Ecology".
The brainstorming session was hosted byMr. Geng Yili, Chairman-in-Office of the Creative Alliance, in which the guestsfocused on the key themes of "digital innovation, platform construction,mechanism synergy and policy support", expressed their views, repeatedlydeduced and reached a consensus.
The meeting decided to formallyestablish the "Digital Intelligence Health Ecology SpecializedCommittee", and elected the first rotating chairman and executivechairman. It was unanimously approved that under the guidance of "DigitalIntelligence Health Ecology Specialized Committee", "DigitalIntelligence Health Ecosystem-Innovation Mechanism Research" will beinitiated by SMIA Yangtze River Delta Center and SMIA GreaterBay Area Center, to explore the path of mechanism innovation in China's healthecosystem in collaboration with academic institutions, pilot hospitals and keyplayers in the healthcare industry chain.
At the end of the meeting, Mr. ZhangJian, Chairman-in-Office, summarized the meeting by stating, "The CreativeAlliance will always adhere to the public welfare orientation, continue toprovide members with compliant and feasible digital and intellectual innovationsolutions, and promote China's health ecosystem to achieve service sharing,business symbiosis, and win-win innovation".
